Long loads

Route for long loads

A tractor and semi-trailer is legally 16.50 m long, a truck and trailer 18.75 m. With an indivisible load a tractor and semi-trailer may be 22.00 m long. Longer requires an exemption.

Length and exemption

An annual exemption for indivisible loads goes up to 27.50 m, only on the green roads of the DWO. Longer, you apply for a one-off exemption per route; up to 60 m long it can be valid for longer than 4 weeks. At tight junctions and roundabouts the length often decides whether a route works.

How to plan it in Truckroute

Choose abnormal load and enter the length. Truckroute then plans only over roads where the RDW itself can grant an exemption for that length. Above 50 m long Truckroute does not plan.

Frequently asked questions

Is an LHV a long load too?

An LHV up to 25.25 m has its own exemption and its own network. In Truckroute, choose LHV instead of abnormal load.
