How fast may a tractor go: 25 or 40 km/h
Agricultural and forestry tractors, motor vehicles with limited speed and mobile machines have their own speed limit. It decides how long a trip takes, and where you may not go.
25 km/h
The basis is 25 km/h, with or without a trailer, unless a lower speed applies.
40 km/h
At most 40 km/h is allowed on roads outside built-up areas. Inside built-up areas it is allowed on a road with a separate cycle path or cycle/moped path, on a road closed to cyclists and on a road where 70 km/h applies.
What that means for the route
Because a tractor may drive 40 km/h at most, it may not use the motorway (at least 60 km/h) or the expressway (at least 50 km/h). The agricultural route in the app never uses them. See tractor on the expressway.
The speed limiter in the app
With your vehicle you choose the speed limiter: 25 or 40 km/h. The route stays the same, but the driving time and arrival time use the speed your vehicle may and can drive, also on a road where cars drive 80 km/h.
Navigation for agricultural vehicles is part of the Truckroute app, for iPhone (with CarPlay) and Android. Choose the vehicle type Agricultural, enter the dimensions and weight, and navigate. The route planner on this site calculates for trucks and coaches; only the app calculates the agricultural route.
