What Truckroute does
Which vehicles and which data
Truckroute calculates a route for the vehicle you actually drive, with the rules and data that come with it. Below you find per vehicle what the route planner and the app take into account, which data lie beneath the route and what we know per country.
Truck and tractor with semi-trailer
- By number plate: emission class, CO2 emission class and the number of axles come from the number plate; with that the low-emission and zero-emission zones count.
- Your own dimensions: height, width, length, weight, axle load and the total number of axles of the combination, in several vehicle profiles with their own name, which you switch between in the app with the Switch button above the route; the route is then recalculated.
- Speed limiter at 80, 85 or 90 km/h in the driving time and the traffic delay.
- Main roads as much as possible if you want, and avoid ferries with its own switch.
LHV (longer heavier vehicle)
- Over the LHV network in the Netherlands, with the new LHV roads added.
- The first and last section to and from the network is shown separately in the route, with the notice that you need an exemption there.
- Two ways: as much motorway as possible, or maximum motorways and the widest roads.
- Avoid narrow roads below 4.5 m for an LHV, and the LHV network as a map layer.
Abnormal loads (convoi exceptionnel)
- Indivisible load network in the Netherlands: the route uses the network for abnormal loads with your height, width, length and gross train weight up to 300 t, with the largest dimensions per road and the temporary restrictions. Also as a map layer.
- Exceptional transport class 90 in Belgium: the network up to 90 t, 4.50 m high, 30 m long and 4.25 m wide in Flanders and Wallonia as a map layer, with the bottlenecks.
- Avoid viaducts and tunnels: with this setting the route avoids passing under viaducts and through tunnels where possible, with the number in the route overview.
- Low loader and level crossings: tell the app you drive a low loader and how much ground clearance you have. The route avoids the level crossings where you could get stuck; more than 3,900 level crossings are on the map, with what each crossing needs.
- Sections outside the network are dotted on the map and explained.
Dangerous goods (ADR)
- Tunnel category B, C, D or E per load: the route avoids the tunnels that are closed for your category.
- Tunnels with their ADR category in all countries on the map, also tunnels with another category at night.
- Avoided tunnels by name, category and time window in the route overview.
- Spain: the route stays on the network for dangerous goods.
- Signs for dangerous goods count in the route.
Coach
- All dimensions and signs as for a truck, except the ban for trucks; the signs for buses do apply.
- Speed limiter at 100 km/h on the motorway and 80 elsewhere, in the driving time, the traffic delay and the section control.
- No Dutch truck charge and no overtaking ban for trucks; bus low-emission zones by number plate.
- The bus in 3D on the map.
Van up to 3.5 t
- Height, length and weight against the signs and the zones by number plate, but over narrower roads than a truck.
- Normal speeds and its own speed limiter, without charges or signs that only apply to trucks.
Motorhome
- Avoid toll roads and allow narrow roads, each with its own switch.
- Tourist routes per country, with mountain routes and stages, in both directions; such a route avoids motorways and toll roads and stays on paved roads.
What the route takes into account
- Traffic signs for height, width, length, weight, axle load, closed to trucks, closed to buses and dangerous goods, placed on the right road and with their additional plates (such as destination traffic excepted and times).
- Clearance heights of viaducts and tunnels, with the sign on site as leading.
- Roads closed to trucks, also as a red line on the map.
- Avoid narrow roads (by default below 2.9 m, adjustable) and sharp turns; never turning on a provincial road.
- Low-emission and zero-emission zones by number plate.
- Loading and unloading times at more than 4,300 places in the Netherlands, with a notice if your destination is inside, and a free zone of 500 m around every address for loading and unloading.
- Closures and roadworks now and for the next 7 days, with working hours: a road is only closed within those hours. Also for a trip you plan ahead.
- Bridge openings: whether a bridge is open at the moment you arrive there.
- Overtaking bans with their times and end.
- An explanation for every detour: why the route skips a road, with the sign of the reason.
Live on the way
- Traffic jams and travel times every minute in the route, with the delay and a faster route if there is one; no leaving and rejoining the motorway around a jam.
- Overhead signs above the motorway per lane, with a closed peak-hour lane also in the lane arrows.
- Arrow boards, roadworks per lane and temporary speed limits.
- Speed cameras, red light cameras and section controls in your direction, also kept up to date by users.
- Truck parkings with free spaces and facilities, and chargers for trucks and all charge points with power and what is free.
Map layers in the app
- LHV network, indivisible load network, exceptional transport 90 t (Belgium), truck charge, closed to trucks, height, weight and axle load, length, ADR, closures now and in the next 7 days, low-emission and zero-emission zones, narrow roads, speed cameras, red light cameras, section controls, truck parkings, level crossings for low loaders, truck chargers and all charge points.
Charges and tolls
- Per route the truck charge in the Netherlands, the Maut in Germany, the charge in Belgium per region, the Eurovignette in Luxembourg and the péage in France.
- Fastest or cheapest route, where cheapest weighs charges, driving time and fuel together.
What we know per country
- Netherlands: signs and clearance heights on almost all roads, live travel times on motorways and most provincial roads, overhead signs, roadworks and closures of all road authorities, loading and unloading times, LHV network and indivisible load network.
- Belgium: signs on about half of the roads, live travel times on the motorways in Flanders, closures in Flanders, tolls per region and the class 90 network.
- Germany: clearance heights on most motorways, live travel times on the Autobahns in Bavaria, Hesse and the Rhineland, roadworks and closures on all Autobahns.
- France: signs on almost all roads, live travel times on national roads without tolls, roadworks, closures and safety messages on national roads and toll motorways.
- Sweden: truck bans with times and height and weight restrictions on almost all roads, roadworks, closures and safety messages on all state roads.
- Denmark: clearance heights on almost all motorways, roadworks and closures on the main routes and in Copenhagen.
- Spain: roadworks and closures in all of Spain except Catalonia and the Basque Country, and the network for dangerous goods.
- Luxembourg, Italy, Austria and Andorra: the route map with the heights and restrictions that are on the map.
- In the app, Settings, Data per country shows what we know per country and per type of road.
Frequently asked questions
May I drive an LHV or abnormal load without an exemption if the route follows the network?
No. Truckroute shows where the route uses the network and where it does not; the exemption or permit is still required and prescribes what applies.
In which countries does Truckroute calculate routes?
In the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, France, Spain, Andorra, Italy, Austria, Denmark and Sweden. What we know live differs per country; see above and in the app under Data per country.
