Traffic signs

Signs C7a and C7b: closed to buses

Three signs look alike but apply to different vehicles. For a coach that makes the difference between a normal route and a detour.

The three signs

C7: closed to trucks. C7a: closed to buses. C7b: closed to trucks and buses. A coach may therefore pass C7, but not C7a and C7b. A sub-sign with a weight limits the sign to heavier vehicles.

In the route

Truckroute knows the signs from the Dutch traffic sign data: 319 C7b signs and 82 C7a signs (as of 23-10-2026). With the number plate of a bus the route avoids C7a and C7b and passes C7; in the navigation of the app you choose the type Coach for this. With a truck it is the other way round at C7a. A sign that Truckroute cannot place on a road does not count; the signs on site always prevail.

In Germany

The German sign 253 (no trucks) does not apply to a bus. Signs 250, 251 and 260, which ban all motor vehicles, do apply to a bus; where Truckroute knows them, the route avoids them for a coach.

Frequently asked questions

May a coach use a street with a truck ban?

Yes, if the sign is C7: that applies only to trucks. If it is C7b, it may not.
