Truckrouteroute planner for trucks by number plate

Heavy loads

Route for heavy loads above 50 tonnes

Legally a truck or combination may weigh 50,000 kg, with at most 10,000 kg on a single axle and 11,500 kg on a driven axle. Heavier is abnormal transport.

Weight and exemption

An annual exemption for indivisible loads goes up to 100,000 kg, with axle loads up to 10,000 kg (pendulum axle 12,000 kg), only on the green roads of the DWO. Above 50,000 kg you must show that the vehicle can carry the weight, with a certificate or SERT document. In the port of Rotterdam extra requirements apply between 80,000 and 100,000 kg on a number of overpasses, such as two transport escorts.

How to plan it in Truckroute

Choose abnormal load and enter the weight together with the other dimensions. Truckroute then only uses roads where the RDW itself can grant an exemption for that weight, and also avoids bridges and roads with a lower weight limit. The route planner calculates up to 100 tonnes; above that it warns you.

Frequently asked questions

Does Truckroute calculate with axle loads?

Yes, enter the axle load under Dimensions and weight: the route then avoids roads and bridges with a lower axle load limit.
