Navigation for agricultural vehicles
A normal navigation app sends a tractor onto the expressway, through a narrow village centre or past a sign that bans agricultural traffic. The Truckroute app navigates an agricultural vehicle as an agricultural vehicle: with the dimensions of your combination and the rules that apply to agricultural traffic.
An app for agricultural navigation
Navigation for agricultural vehicles is part of the Truckroute app, for iPhone (with CarPlay) and Android. Choose the vehicle type Agricultural, enter the dimensions and weight, and navigate. The route planner on this site calculates for trucks and coaches; only the app calculates the agricultural route.
If your vehicle has a Dutch number plate of RDW category T (agricultural or forestry tractor) or C (tracked vehicle), the app chooses the type Agricultural by itself.
Over the agricultural road map
The route runs as much as possible over the roads of the RDW agricultural vehicles map (more than 72,000 km) and also over every road up to 60 km/h, such as the dike between two villages, the polder road and the street in a built-up area. If part of the route still leaves those roads, the app tells you how many kilometres and where: at the start, at the end or on the way. See route over the agricultural road map.
Never on the motorway or expressway
Only a vehicle that may and can drive at least 60 km/h is allowed on the motorway, and at least 50 km/h on the expressway. A tractor may drive 40 km/h at most, so the route never uses a motorway or expressway. See tractor on the expressway.
The signs that apply to agricultural traffic
Sign C8 bans agricultural and forestry tractors, motor vehicles with limited speed and mobile machines, sign C9 all slow traffic; the route avoids both. Signs for height, width, length, weight and axle load also apply to a tractor and count. Sign C7, closed to trucks, does not apply to a tractor: the route simply passes it. See sign C8.
N roads: your choice
An 80 km/h N road is often the fastest road for a tractor, but not always the most pleasant. With your vehicle you choose under N roads: Normal, Over N roads as much as possible or Avoid N roads and 80 km/h roads. With the last choice the route looks for the back roads: dikes, polder roads and parallel roads.
No charges, no zones
The truck charge and the zero-emission zones apply to trucks and vans, not to a tractor. The app therefore does not count them for an agricultural vehicle.
Straight to the field
Need to get to a piece of land without an address? Type the cadastral designation in the address field, for example Barsingerhorn A 876, and the app navigates there and draws the parcel on the map. See navigating to a parcel.
Frequently asked questions
Does agricultural navigation work outside the Netherlands?
No. The agricultural road map and the rules apply to the Netherlands; with the type Agricultural you choose a destination in the Netherlands.
Does it work for a contractor or a mobile machine?
Yes. Choose the type Agricultural and enter the dimensions of the combination, also for a combine harvester, a self-propelled sprayer or a tractor with tipping trailer. See navigation for agricultural contractors.
Does the route planner on the site also calculate for a tractor?
No, only the Truckroute app calculates the agricultural route.
