Dutch truck charge
The Dutch truck charge per trip, and when a detour pays off
Since 1 July 2026, trucks heavier than 3,500 kg pay the truck charge in the Netherlands. Truckroute calculates per road section of the charging network, with the rate that belongs to weight, CO2 class and Euro class, and weighs a detour against charge, driving time and diesel.
Venlo to Eindhoven: cheaper and faster
A Scania tractor with semi-trailer (Euro 6, CO2 class 1). The standard route is 64.0 km, 1 hour 15 minutes, with € 5.89 in charges: € 92.75 in charges, time and diesel together. The route with less motorway is 61.3 km, 1 hour 13 minutes and € 5.43 in charges: € 88.97 together. Advice: € 3.78 cheaper and 3 minutes faster (calculated on 12-10-2026).

Zwolle to Deventer: € 15.06 cheaper, just as fast
The same tractor. The standard route via the A50 and the A1 is 58.0 km, 51 minutes and € 8.11 in charges, € 73.99 together. Via the N35 and the N348 the trip is 40.3 km, also 51 minutes, without charges: € 58.93 together. If this tractor drives the trip once every working day, that saves € 3,313.20 a year over 220 working days (calculated on 12-10-2026).

Frequently asked questions
Does Truckroute also say when a detour does not pay off?
Yes. From Moerdijk to Tilburg, for example, a route with less motorway costs 10 minutes and more diesel; then the advice is the standard route.
Do the amounts include VAT?
