New in Truckroute
On 24-10-2026 a lot was added to the Truckroute app, to CarPlay and to the route planner. Below you find everything at a glance, per topic.
Loading and unloading times per municipality
- Time windows for loading and unloading on the map: the times at which you may load and unload in a municipality, at more than 2,500 places in the Netherlands, on the phone and in CarPlay.
- Also low-traffic areas and other time rules, such as school streets and stopping bans with times, each with its own letter and colour.
- Tap a place to see the rule and the times that apply there.
- Notice at your destination: if loading and unloading times apply at your address, you see it in the route overview on the phone and in the route choice in CarPlay.
- Choose what you see: a legend in the settings, and hide the layer as a whole or per type.
Temporary access bans, closures and roadworks
- Temporary access bans and closures count in the route, so you do not get stuck on them.
- The detour explained: a balloon on the closed road with the road number (for example "N248 closed") and the reason for the closure, on the phone and in CarPlay.
- Roadworks per lane: a closed, narrowed or shifted lane and contraflow are shown in the route, with the right signs for the roadworks.
- More signs for trucks: dozens of signs added, signs with time windows checked on the street and corrected where needed, and overtaking bans with their times and the road number.
A route for every vehicle
- Coach: choose Coach in the app and you drive with the speed limiter at 100 km/h on the motorway and 80 elsewhere, in the driving time, the traffic delay and the section control. No Dutch truck charge and no overtaking ban for trucks, but the signs for buses (C7a and C7b) with their own sign in the app and in CarPlay.
- Motorhome with tourist routes: per country a list of tourist routes, mountain routes and stages, in both directions. The app navigates you to the start. A tourist route avoids motorways and toll roads and stays on paved roads.
- Van up to 3.5 t: its own mode, with the dimensions and weight checked against the signs and the zones by number plate.
- Motorhome and van without truck rules: no signs, charges or tolls that only apply to trucks.
- LHV: the connection to the LHV network never lies behind a restriction any more.
- Special transport: with the setting "Avoid viaducts and tunnels where possible" the route goes around them, with the number in the route overview and in CarPlay.
- Avoid ferries with its own switch.
- Emission class and CO2 emission class now also come from the number plate.
Your truck in 3D on the map
- A real truck as your position: a red tractor with a white semi-trailer that bends in the turn like a real combination, on the phone, in CarPlay and on the shared screen.
- Shadow with the sun: the shadow follows the position of the sun at that moment.
- Your own logo on the rear doors: the VYS logo is on the front, and in the settings you put your own logo on the rear doors (no logo means the VYS logo).
- The coach as a real bus in 3D.
- Under viaducts: the vehicle and the route line drive under the viaduct instead of over it.
- Three sizes for the position image: large, medium and small.
Navigating
- Lane arrows like on the road: the arrows at junctions look like the arrows painted on the road, and the route line is in the right lane 300 m before the turn. A lane change is a smooth S-curve.
- Within the lines: your position stays in the middle of your lane, also without a route.
- Stop lines at traffic lights throughout the Netherlands, at the place of the light.
- Overhead signs: the peak-hour lane right next to the normal lanes, updated every 15 seconds, and an 80 with a red ring as above the road.
- Driving on without GPS: in a tunnel your position keeps moving, on the phone and in CarPlay.
- Map theme: automatic with the sun, always dark or always light.
- Easier to read: street names in white on the road, small roads from close by, and the priority road sign on every provincial road.
- No turning loop through side roads any more after a new calculation on the way.
CarPlay
- The CarPlay shared screen: Truckroute now also sits next to your other apps on the CarPlay dashboard.
- Default navigation app: on an iPhone in the EU you choose Truckroute as the default navigation app, and links and addresses then open in Truckroute, also in CarPlay.
- Travel time in colour: green, orange or red depending on the delay.
- Overhead signs and distances below the large blue sign and in the gantry sign.
Planning and searching
- Route details behind the i button: all restrictions on the route (height, width, weight, axle load, bans, time windows, narrow roads, LHV) and the loading and unloading times at the top.
- A point on the map as destination, stop or starting point.
- Better search: an address with postcode as you copy it from another map app, a foreign postcode as a filter, and a foreign house number that is not known yet still shown at an estimated place in the right street. Dutch addresses appear right away.
- Settings in categories: saved addresses, vehicle, map, route, navigation and legend, each on its own page.
- Messages in the style of the app.
Tolls and route map
- Tolls in Wallonia only on the official toll network, no longer on all motorways and expressways.
- Route map with Italy, Austria and Denmark added.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I switch the loading and unloading times on or off?
In the settings of the app, under Legend. There you see what the letters and colours mean, and you hide the whole layer or just one type.
How do I put my own logo on the truck?
In the settings of the app, under Vehicle, you choose your own logo for the rear doors. Without your own logo the VYS logo is shown there.
