Heavy transport

Route for abnormal loads

A transport higher than 4.00 m, wider than 2.55 m, longer than 18.75 m or heavier than 50 tonnes needs an exemption. Truckroute plans such a trip over the roads where the RDW can grant an exemption for your dimensions, and not over roads where it cannot.

The RDW decision space

The RDW Digital Exemptions Road Map gives, per road section, up to which height, width, length and weight the RDW itself can grant an exemption. Truckroute reads that decision space every week and gives every road the maximums of the RDW line that runs over it in the same direction.

How to plan a trip

Under Dimensions and weight, choose abnormal load and enter the dimensions of the transport. Above 5.50 m high, 6.00 m wide or 50 m long, Truckroute does not plan: a separate assessment is always needed then. The route planner calculates weight up to 100 tonnes.

Abnormal load of 4.4 m high, 3.5 m wide, 25 m long and 60 tonnes from the Prins Clausplein to Oudenrijn (15-10-2026)

The exemption remains binding

Truckroute does not apply for an exemption and does not replace it. The route shows which roads are within the decision space; the exemption and the conditions of the RDW prevail.

Frequently asked questions

Are temporary restrictions included, such as a narrow lane at roadworks?

Not yet. The fixed decision space is; check temporary restrictions at roadworks with the RDW before you drive.
