Route over the agricultural road map
The RDW keeps a map of the roads for agricultural vehicles. That map is the heart of the agricultural route in the Truckroute app.
The agricultural vehicles map
The RDW digital road map for exemptions contains a map of the roads for agricultural vehicles: more than 714,000 road sections, together more than 72,000 km, from provincial roads to local roads. The route in the app searches over those roads first.
Plus every road up to 60 km/h
The RDW map mainly contains the through roads. An agricultural vehicle may also drive on a road with a speed limit of up to and including 60 km/h, so the route counts those roads too: the street in a built-up area, the 60 km/h zone outside it, the dike, the polder road, the service road and the farm road.
What the route never does
The motorway and the expressway are not part of the agricultural route: only a vehicle that may and can drive at least 60 km/h (motorway) or 50 km/h (expressway) is allowed there. The route also skips a road with sign C8 or a size or weight limit your combination does not fit under.
A stretch outside the map
If your destination is on a road that is not on the map, or there is no other road, the route drives the shortest stretch outside it and the app tells you, for example On the way 0.8 km outside the agricultural road map: check whether you may drive there with this vehicle. That way you know in advance where to pay attention.
See where you drive
The Agricultural road map layer shows the roads of the map on the map in the app. While driving, the network sign with the tractor shows whether you are on or off the map.
Signs on site prevail
The map is updated regularly, but on site things may be different: a temporary closure, a new sign or roadworks. The signs along the road always prevail.
Frequently asked questions
Is the agricultural road map an exemption?
No. The map shows roads; an exemption for a vehicle that is wider, longer or heavier than allowed is applied for separately at the RDW.

- May a tractor use the expressway or motorway?: A tractor may not use the motorway (at least 60 km/h) or the expressway (at least 50 km/h). It may use an 80 km/h N road, at 40 km/h.
- Sign C8: closed to agricultural vehicles: Sign C8 bans agricultural and forestry tractors, motor vehicles with limited speed and mobile machines. What it means and how the app navigates with it.
