Tractor navigation app: how to set it up
In a few steps the Truckroute app drives with your tractor and whatever is behind it. After that you navigate as with any navigation, on the phone or on the screen in the cab.
1. Vehicle: type Agricultural
Navigation for agricultural vehicles is part of the Truckroute app, for iPhone (with CarPlay) and Android. Choose the vehicle type Agricultural, enter the dimensions and weight, and navigate. The route planner on this site calculates for trucks and coaches; only the app calculates the agricultural route.
With a Dutch number plate of category T or C the app fills in the type itself. You can save several vehicles, for example the tractor on its own and the tractor with tipping trailer, and choose one per trip.
2. Dimensions and weight
Enter the height, width, length and weight of the whole combination. The route then avoids a bridge or tunnel that is too low, a passage that is too narrow and a road or bridge with a weight limit that is too tight. A tractor with a wide machine is often wider than a truck: with the right width the route stays on roads where you fit.
3. Speed limiter: 25 or 40 km/h
A tractor may drive 25 km/h, and 40 km/h outside built-up areas and on some roads inside them. Choose the speed of your vehicle under speed limiter. The route stays the same, the driving time and arrival time are more accurate. See 25 or 40 km/h.
4. N roads
Choose Normal, Over N roads as much as possible or Avoid N roads and 80 km/h roads. The choice belongs to the vehicle, so every trip with that tractor uses it.
5. Navigate
Choose an address, a company, a favourite or a cadastral parcel. While calculating you see the steps, such as searching over the roads of the agricultural road map and checking the signs for agricultural vehicles. On the way the app shows the turns, the lanes and the speed limit.
The agricultural road map in view
Turn on the Agricultural road map layer to see the roads of the map. While driving, the network sign with the tractor (AGR) shows whether you are on the agricultural road map or off it. If the route skips a road you would expect, a balloon on the map gives the reason, for example No agricultural vehicles.
On the phone and in CarPlay
The navigation works on the phone and on the screen in the cab with CarPlay. See CarPlay.
